65km out of Gonder via gravel road. Signposted in the village of Gorgora.
Community based project run by young Dutch couple who set up lodges (still in construction), available tents and camping ground. Clean showers and toilets. Even though at the time we stayed no running water nor electricity due to the rebuilding of the restaurant's roof. No internet. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be provided. Laundry can be done.

Camping in the carpark of the hotel. No electricity, no water, poor and dirty toilet, no privacy. Only reason to stay there is that it was too late to enter Simien Mountains NP. New rooms are available at 180 Birr per night, we did not try them. Facilities and cleanness of these rooms are unknown to us. Several and long powercuts during our stay in the carpark.

Wild camp a few km after Adi Arkay on the road to Axum. Under a large tree, but can be seen from the road. No people came around the car, it's a quiet spot in case of emergency stop. In case of rain it can be muddy.

Large and clean room with bathroom (for Ethiopian standards). Hot water and no power cut. Friendly staff. Compound with a guard to park the car safely. Good restaurant with Western food. Internet cafe. A good place to reset yourself.

Wonderful site with exclusive access to a white sandy clean beach by the Lake Langano. Quiet and peaceful, can park in the shade of trees, ideal location to rest and enjoy swimming in the lake, being totally alone! No shower (in construction when we were there, Jul 2010) and long drop toilet. No internet.

Very bad shower and toilet so the manager opened one of the rooms/huts for us to access the bathroom, but the water was running very very little. Ok restaurant. Advantage is to be at the border itself with Kenya to cross the next morning. No internet.
